About The Project

The clients were undertaking a full home renovation and desired a Scandinavian-inspired kitchen that still embraced the warmth and charm of Scottish styling. They wanted a modern space that balanced natural textures with clean lines, while creating a welcoming heart of the home.

The Design Concept

Two tall banks of units were positioned to maximise storage and allow the island and sink run to become the focal point of the kitchen. The island features soft wooden panelling which introduces warmth and texture, complementing the sleek cabinetry. Scandinavian minimalism is expressed through the handleless design and light colour palette, while Scottish influence is brought in through the use of natural materials and tactile finishes. Subtle lighting enhances the serene atmosphere and highlights the carefully chosen textures throughout.

The Result

The finished kitchen is a harmonious blend of Nordic simplicity and Scottish comfort. The central island creates an inviting hub for cooking and socialising, softened by the wood tones and paired beautifully with the textured wall tiles. The clean storage banks ensure the room remains uncluttered and calm, delivering both practicality and beauty. The overall effect is a timeless, tranquil space that perfectly reflects the clients’ vision.

The Details

This kitchen perfectly balances Scandinavian minimalism with the warmth of natural materials. Soft oak cabinetry flows across the space, adding texture and depth while creating a calming connection to nature. The statement island features vertical slatted timber detailing, giving a tactile focal point that softens the sleek quartz worktop. Integrated appliances, including a full-height wine chiller, are seamlessly built into the cabinetry to maintain clean lines and functionality. Subtle LED lighting highlights the textured splashback and enhances the warm tones of the wood, creating an inviting atmosphere that feels both contemporary and homely.
