About The Project

Set within an exclusive farm steading near North Berwick, three luxury holiday properties required kitchens that would balance simple functionality with refined elegance. The aim was to complement the character of the sympathetically restored buildings while offering guests a premium experience. Poggenpohl kitchen furniture was specified for its timeless quality, finished in warm earthy tones to echo the rural surroundings. Siemens appliances were chosen for their reliability and performance, while island seating was prioritised to create sociable cooking and dining spaces. This project was recognised nationally as a Finalist in Scotland’s Home of the Year 2019.

The Design Concept

The design focussed on understated luxury and seamless integration. Clean lines, slab-front cabinetry and mirrored splashbacks were used to reflect natural light and enhance the sense of space. Each kitchen island was designed as a central gathering point, offering both a practical cooking area and informal seating for guests. Natural materials and muted tones were selected to harmonise with the farm’s traditional architecture, creating a modern aesthetic that still felt rooted in its rural context. Pendant lighting above the islands added warmth and atmosphere, enhancing the inviting feel of the open-plan layouts.

The Result

The completed kitchens offer a refined yet welcoming environment, perfectly suited to luxury holiday accommodation. The combination of Poggenpohl cabinetry and Siemens appliances delivers both visual elegance and outstanding usability. The islands provide relaxed dining and entertaining areas, helping to position the kitchens as the social heart of each property. Overall, the design successfully bridges contemporary comfort with rural charm, contributing to the properties’ acclaim and national recognition.
