About The Project

Creating a practical working space that integrated seamlessly with the dining and living areas was central to the design brief for this Arts & Crafts property in Glasgow. The clients were keen to combine functionality with a strong design identity, ensuring the kitchen became the heart of the home while also connecting harmoniously with adjacent living spaces.

The Design Concept

The sweeping walnut workspace was designed to serve as both a practical preparation area and a social hub, blending effortlessly with the dining table and timber accents throughout the room. This warmth of wood contrasts beautifully against the crisp white lacquer doors of the Poggenpohl cabinetry and the sleek Eclipse Corian worktops, creating a balance of modern precision and natural elegance. Premium appliances were specified to elevate functionality: Gaggenau cooling systems, Miele hobs and a discreet Westin hood were chosen for performance and reliability. At the same time, a bespoke, temperature- and humidity-controlled wine room was incorporated into the dining space, introducing a striking feature that also supports the clients’ passion for entertaining.

The Result

The finished space is both highly functional and visually compelling, with each design element contributing to a seamless flow between kitchen, dining, and living zones. The walnut detailing brings warmth and continuity, while the white lacquer and Corian surfaces maintain a light, contemporary feel. The integration of world-class appliances ensures performance matches aesthetics, while the glass-fronted wine room provides a true focal point that elevates the dining experience. The result is a kitchen that not only complements the Arts & Crafts heritage of the property but also delivers a sophisticated, modern environment tailored to the clients’ lifestyle.
