About The Project
With uninterrupted views of the Isle of Arran, the owners of this modern build Seamill property were keen to bring colour into their interiors in a way that complemented the ever-changing coastal landscape outside. They approached us with the vision of creating a kitchen that would balance functionality, luxury, and a bold yet natural palette. As a result, this project became a finalist in Scotland’s Home of the Year 2020.
The Design Concept
The design centres around cabinetry from our exclusive J.S. Geddes Collection, painted in a bespoke Squid Ink shade – a unique colour that shifts between blue, green, and grey depending on the light, echoing the tones of the sea and sky. The worktop is finished in Dekton Orix, a textured surface that brings depth and resilience, while a stainless steel Quooker boiling water tap introduces a sleek, modern detail. Siemens appliances provide high performance without interrupting the clean lines of the kitchen. A bespoke perching area, created in collaboration with a specialist metal fabricator, adds an industrial yet elegant touch, contrasting with the earthy tones of the island cabinetry.
The Result
The finished kitchen is a seamless blend of contemporary design and natural inspiration. The interplay of light across the Squid Ink cabinetry reflects the coastal views, ensuring the kitchen feels deeply connected to its surroundings. The Dekton Orix worktops and Siemens appliances combine practicality with luxury, while the bespoke perching area offers a striking focal point for casual dining and socialising. The bold use of colour paired with understated textures delivers a modern yet timeless space – one that captures the essence of its coastal setting while offering everyday functionality.
